About Stavros

From the day Stavros first started treading up the path of business life, more than twenty five years have passed. He started early, followed his parents’ moral principles and started working part time jobs during summer time, a good start, that not only got him his first bicycle bought with his own pocket money at the age of 14, but also taught him the real value of money.

Few years later, Stavros earned his Bachelor’s Degree from the American College of Greece, and successfully completed his studies in Marketing and Business Analysis at the University of Lancaster, followed by the UMIST University in Manchester. He spent three years in England, during which he acquired his M.B.A. and MSc in Marketing degrees, combined with a deep sense of life abroad.

Upon his return in Greece, and after fulfilling his military obligations, two major things happened in his life: he met his future wife, Rosa, or his ‘other half orange’ as himself puts it in a more poetical flair, and found his first ‘real’ job as an exports director, in the biggest wine company of his country. Nine years later he moved to a prestigious, boutique wine company in Greece. Fifteen years in export sales took him all over the world, from Beijing and Tokyo to New York and Sydney. Meanwhile, being an avid traveller by nature, he roamed Greece and the world in a more adventurous way, always having Rosa by his side. The two of them trekked from the steep gorges and mountain sides of Greece to the Everest Base Camp and the Icelandic lava fields, sailed the emerald blue Aegean sea, the Galapagos Archipelago and the equatorial Amazon. Although they will never forget the night they slept under the stars in the Sahara desert or their fabulous hot air balloon ride over the 4.000 temples of Bagan, Myanmar, exploring the hidden beauties of Greece was (and still is!) their favourite endeavour.

And then? A newcomer invaded Stavros’s life, his little daughter D, the ‘pupil of his eye’! Career goals already achieved and personal quests fulfilled; it was time for him to detach himself from the frantic pace of corporate life and spend more serene time with his family. It was time for a decision! With the steady support of his wife it didn’t take him long to combine three of his major passions in life, -meeting people, exploring and discovering, and sharing knowledge and soon a new career path was wide open. He bought his first taxi in 2004, his second one two years later. Five years have passed since, and he is happier than ever. His enthusiasm is contagious, his ability in guessing and fulfilling each guest’s individual and different interests unique. Hundreds of visitors cross his way, all of whom soon realize that Stavros treats them not only as guests but as future friends. Most of them stay in touch over the years and remember him fondly. Many of them say that the memory of him can well be a reason for their future return to Greece.

Yes, things change in life, and it’s fortunate when they change for the better. Staying close to one’s family and being able to share your child’s smiles while growing up, is one of the most precious things one can have in this world. Meeting people and being able to communicate in the most sincere and authentic way, even if their paths and yours cross only briefly, is another…
